Biography
Sam Pointer, President and Principal Consultant
Sam Pointer has worked extensively with companies providing high-tech
products and with organizations in other industries seeking to improve their use
of
technology. Representative results include
- leading a software engineering team to develop a family of 10 software
products released in the U.S. and Japan,
- streamlining and automating the workflow of a University technology
transfer office,
- leading the IT infrastructure development to support a national product
release and IPO for an Internet postage company, and
- managing multiple third-party logistics (3PL) projects for a
pharmaceutical company.
Prior to founding Red Mountain Consulting, he was Vice President and General
Manager of a subsidiary of EBSCO Industries, a private multinational with over
$1 billion yearly revenue. He previously was with Macess Corporation and
Hewlett-Packard Company.
Sam's credentials include:
- M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California,
Berkeley, where he was a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow;
- B.S.
in Electrical Engineering magna cum laude from Duke University, where he was an A.B.
Duke Memorial Scholar; and
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management
Institute (PMI).
